日本刀とは、日本固有の鍛冶製法によって作られた刀剣です。一般的に反りがあり、刀身の片側に刃があるものを指します。
古くから武器としての役割と共に、美しい姿が象徴的な意味をもっていました。諸外国と異なり、外装ではなく刀剣自体が美術品である事が特徴です。現在では美術品としての価値も高くなっています。
このように日本刀は日本にとって特別な武器でした。実際に、諸外国と比べると、刀鍛冶は公的な地位も高かったと言われています。

什麼是永治加治？
地方においても鍛治は重要でした。各地域は競って優秀な鍛治職人を京都から呼び込みました。
延寿鍛治と呼ばれる鍛冶集団もその一つです。彼らは九州の菊池郡にて優れた刀剣を生み出しました。
延寿とは寿命が延びるという意味であり、大名家では延寿鍛冶の刀剣は贈答品として大変に愛されました。
Swordsmithing was also important in the provinces.
Each region competed to bring in the best swordsmiths from Kyoto.
The blacksmithing group called Enju Kaji is one of them. They produced excellent swords in the Kikuchi group in Kyushu during the Middle Ages.
”Enju” means prolonging one's life, and it was a very popular gift for the Daimyo.
鍛造在農村地區也很重要。首都邀請了優秀的鐵匠，並在每個地區得到了長足發展。九州的代表性案例是Enji Kouji。中世紀在九州的菊池組中繁榮昌盛。長壽意味著更長壽，大名一家人都把它當作禮物。

同田貫は延寿鍛冶の末裔とされる鍛冶の一族で、戦国時代から江戸時代にかけて活躍しました。同田貫鍛冶の始祖と言われる同田貫正国は、「折れず、曲がらず、同田貫」と称賛される実戦刀を数多く残しています。菊池市では現在でも度々同田貫刀を公開するイベントを開催しており、人気を博しています。
The Japanese sword Dodanuki is said to be a masterpiece made by Dodanuki Masakuni. Dodanuki Masakuni lived in Kikuchi City, Kyushu, the hometown of Enju Kaji, where many of his famous swords were made. Kikuchi City have many events where Dodanuki is open to the public.
同田貫在中扮演受歡迎的角色。據說這是胴田貫正國製作的傑作。 胴田貫正國居住在延寿的故鄉菊池，並製造了許多著名的劍。九州菊池舉辦經常向公眾開放的活動。
